Meet our Athlete of the Month: LAURIE!!

πŸŽ‰βœ¨ Athlete of the Month: Laurie! βœ¨πŸŽ‰

Laurie may be one of our newer members, but she’s already kickin’ butt at Mountain View Wellness! We chose her as our Athlete of the Month because she embodies tenacity, a willingness to learn, and pure joy (yes, joy! πŸ˜„). Her commitment to showing up, her positive attitude, and her steady progress in strength make her an inspiration to us all. πŸ’ͺπŸ’₯

HERE IS LAURIE IN HER OWN WORDS

πŸ”Ή How long have you been training with MVW? What inspired you to start your health and fitness journey with us?

πŸ’¬ My journey with MVW began in early January of 2025, so it has only been 2 months. I had been doing home workouts and lots of outdoor activity, but I wanted to add strength training. I am so grateful that MVW was an option when I was looking. As I think about it, my initial inspiration was probably other women, especially those older than me who stay active and healthy. πŸ’–

πŸ”Ή What is a recent accomplishment or breakthrough you're most proud of?

πŸ’¬ One of my first workouts had me doing scap pull ups, but all I could do was dead hang from the bar. That's what I did for 6 weeks, trying to increase the time I could hang. Now I am doing assisted pull ups, so I am actually making it up to the bar. I still have a long way to go, but I feel stronger.πŸ’₯πŸ’ͺ

πŸ”Ή What advice would you give someone just starting their wellness journey or thinking about joining MVW?

πŸ’¬ MVW is a supportive community where you can feel safe, whether you are trying new exercises, dealing with a bad day, or struggling to get through a tough workout. Everyone is very friendly and the energy is positive. For many people the most difficult part might be just getting into the gym for the first time. Julie and her team make it easy to try new things. πŸ’«

πŸ”Ή What do you love most about being part of MVW and training at Ascent New Haven?

πŸ’¬It is just fun! I love the birthday burpees, having a laugh with Julie and Lynette, meeting new people, and pushing myself in a space where people are paying attention just enough to help me out, but they don't judge. I don't feel like there is such a thing as failure in MVW. πŸ’•

πŸ”Ή Is there anything else you’d like us to know about your health + wellness journey?

πŸ’¬ I came into my new workout routine expecting that my body would change and I would feel better physically. That is true, but the biggest change I notice is in my perspective and sense of purpose. I feel grounded, which is especially important when things happening in the world are so scary. I so appreciate MVW. πŸŒπŸ’™

🌟 Keep shining, Laurie β€” we’re so lucky to have you in our MVW family! 🌟
