Confidence Isn’t Built in the Mirror. It lies in your Say-Do Ratio.
When I got the photos from my latest powerlifting meet, I smiled. 😊 Not just because of the PRs— But because of how far I’ve come.
I don't weigh what I did in my 30s, but I show up for myself, am strong, feel supported, and love my community.
I still remember my very first meet two years ago.
I wasn’t nervous about the lifting… I was nervous about the singlet. 😳 (That tight, form-fitting uniform lifters wear—it leaves nothing to the imagination.)
As a middle-aged woman, wearing something so revealing was intimidating. But I did it anyway.
And something incredible happened:
✨ I had fun ✨ I felt strong ✨ I cheered for others ✨ I belonged
That experience came full circle last week when I talked with Coach Lynette. It was her first-ever meet, and she had just received her photos.
She said something I’ll never forget:
“It was the first time in my life I didn’t pick myself apart. I liked what I saw—because I felt strong. I felt like I belonged.” 💫
💭 It got me thinking…
What is confidence, really? Where does it actually come from?
Here’s what I know:
❌ You can have a six-pack and still hate your reflection. ❌ You can be a size 2 and still feel like you’re not enough.
✅ Confidence isn’t about how your body looks. It’s about how you feel in your skin. It’s about the relationship you have with yourself.
💬 And yes—it’s totally OK to want to lose weight.
